This site is recognises vessels 'with' engine propulsion, whether or not they also had sails.
It took a ship to discover AUSTRALIA , and since, many great vessels fully Australian built and owned have been plying our coastal ports and international waters. Those aboard, as crew, officers and passengers have their own memories and, where a picture is worth a thousand words, so then each image shown on this site have a story. This site itself is incomplete, as information is scarce, but with viewers' contributions, this site can evolve into a brilliant online historical record, in picture and word, of Australia's shipping history. Note here that passenger and merchant vessels, from Steam power onwards, are the mainstay of this site, as pure naval vessels are very well covered by dedicated naval historians in other sites. See LINKS. Further, images of the ships viewed here, where known, are mostly recognised and accredited to their source. Where readers make a contribution, full acknowledgement will be given with thanks! Links to relevant websites will also be given full consideration.
ENJOY !
